Former hunting close to market

-

A VICTORIAN country home which was once a hunting lodge is up for grabs in the Vale of Glamorgan – complete with spacious gardens, sprawling views and even an outdoor pool.

Plasnewydd, in the village of Bonvilston, is a spacious home which was originally built in 1900 as a hunting lodge for the nearby Cottrell Park Estate.

More than a century later, original character features of the property have been blended with contemporary furnishings and fittings to make for a sixbedroom family home.

The village has an active village hall, a popular village shop, a pub, a church, two restaurants and a regular bus service.

It is in the catchment area for the well-regarded secondary school in the nearby market town of Cowbridge, and is a short drive from the M4, Cardiff, and out-of-town shopping at Culverhouse Cross.

Some of Plasnewydd’s features include a galleried hall, sitting room and a large study overlooking the garden, kitchen/breakfast room, and a ground floor shower room, with potential to create annexed accommodation.

The hall is flanked by a dining room and a lounge, both with tall bay windows looking out over the patio and gardens. To the first floor, the three largest bedrooms – which contain built-in wardrobes – all enjoy views over the garden and the rolling countryside of the Vale.

The master bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom, while three further double bedrooms and the family bathroom look to the rear of the property.

A broad paved terrace fronts the property, from which steps lead down to an expansive lawn, bordered and screened from neighbours by mature beech hedging and, in part, specimen trees.

In the corner of the garden is a Victorian-style glasshouse, containing two cherry trees and a vegetable garden, and an outdoor pool is located in
