TWO Cardiff drug dealers were caught when they crashed their van and got stuck on bollards, as they tried to get away from police.

Hussein Mursal and Said Yusuf, both 26, were spotted by plain-clothed police officers who saw them dealing drugs from their silver Berlingo mini van in the Roath area of the city.

The plain-clothed police were on patrol at the time in Moira Place on Wednesday, June 29.

When the pair saw police they tried to escape but crashed into a parked car.

Then they tried to drive through a narrow gap between a police vehicle and bollards, but their vehicle got stuck.

Yusuf, of Clos Glanhowny, Atlantic Wharf, was arrested as he got out of the van and Mursal, of Hodges Square, Butetown, was arrested by officers following a brief chase.

Wraps of heroin and crack cocaine were seized at the scene.

Detective Sergeant Dave Bancroft, from the Cardiff Organised Crime Unit, said: “These men were caught redhanded selling class A drugs on the streets of Cardiff.

“They have continually lied about their involvement in drug dealing but the jury saw right through them.

“Crack and heroin does untold damage to communities and I hope the sentences imposed deter others from following their path.

“I also hope this sentence and the story behind it reassures the local community that we are actively tackling drug dealers every day on the streets of Cardiff.”

They were each jailed for four-anda-half years at Cardiff Crown Court for possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
