Fire crews rescue cat from tree

-

AN ADVENTUROUS cat who found himself trapped seven metres up a tree had to be rescued by fire crews.

Moritz got trapped up the oak tree in Blaenrhondda, near Treorchy – but South Wales Fire and Rescue Service officials came to the rescue using ladders to bring him back to safety.

Moritz is now safely back with his owner Maria Marchl.

Maria said: “Moritz is an adventurous cat, and this is the second time he has got himself stuck up a tree – this time an oak tree! “I rescued Moritz three years ago. “I’m so happy he is safely back home after this ordeal, and am very grateful to the RSPCA and the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.”

RSPCA Cymru, which yesterday released images of the March 12 rescue, helped spring to Moritz’s aid after being alerted to his plight.

One of the charity’s inspectors, Simon Evans, said: “RSPCA Cymru was pleased to work with a crew from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service to help Moritz.

“This incident was another example of the great things we can do for animals, and their welfare, by working closely in partnership.”
