BABIES ‘Willow is such a character – she makes us laugh’

-

Baby’s name: Hallsworth. Date and place of birth: November 5 at 11.55pm at the University Hospital of Wales. Weight: 6lb 1oz. Parents: Mum Karianne Allott, 27, a bartender from Fairwater, Cardiff, and dad Adam Hallsworth, 35, from Splott. Mum’s story: “This is my second baby, and it was all relatively easy.

“With my first I had morning sickness right up until the end, but with Willow it stopped at around 25 weeks.

“It was just completely different. I knew exactly what would happen, but obviously it did all feel very different.

“With my first I had an emergency C-section, but with Willow I had a natural birth.

“I was very anxious when I was pregnant with Willow. She wasn’t planned at all, and I had been told that the possibility of conceiving was slim. I was Willow Fay Phyllisse very nervous throughout it all, just in case anything was to go wrong.

“But everything is absolutely fine now – she’s an absolute gem.

“We found out we were having a girl at 20 weeks, and then we had a private scan at 21 weeks just to double check.

“Even though they say that boys are easier to look after, we were ecstatic when we found out we were having another girl.

“I was always keen on the name Willow, but with my previous partner he wasn’t so sure. But with my current partner, there was a few names we liked but when I suggested Willow, it just stuck.

“We kept her middle names a secret until she was born. It’s Fay Phyllisse; Phyllisse comes from Phyllis, my greatgrandmother who was a massive role model and inspiration to me, and Fay is Adam’s mum’s name who passed away in July. When we told our family, they were in awe of it – they couldn’t have been more over the moon.

“Willow is such a character. She makes us laugh all the time, and, even though she’s only five months old, there’s definitely a temper in her.

“The first night we took her home she was waking every 25 minutes, but since about two-and-a-half months she’s been sleeping right through, so we’re very lucky.

“At first my six-year-old daughter Zoey was a bit nervous around Willow, because she was so small, but now she’s brilliant with her.

“Willow looks more like her dad, she’s the spitting image of him, but personality-wise she’s probably more like me.

“It’s been a challenge having Willow, I never realised how hard it is to take a pram out of a car with two kids. But overall it’s been absolutely wonderful.”
