Floral delights in store at RHS show
THE RHS Flower Show returns to Cardiff today for what organisers have described as “a fantastic celebration of spring”.
The capital is the first of 11 shows over the summer for the Royal Horticultural Society and will take place in Bute Park from today until Sunday.
The event will give gardening lovers the chance to view five show gardens, including a design by students at Bridgend College and a Macmillan Cancer Care legacy garden, designed by Sarah Wilson.
There will also be some stunning display features on show including one based on Castle Coch – which has been recreated complete with its own dragon.
There will also be more than 50 plant nurseries run by specialist growers which will offer a wide range of plants available to buy, as well as more than 100 stalls.
A farmers’ market will also be on site, as well as a variety of food in the cafe quarter. Keen gardeners will also be treated to talks and demonstrations throughout the weekend, with a packed timetable of events.
And the weather looks good for the event too, with sunny spells forecast across with highs of 17C on Sunday afternoon.
Rose Gore Browne, RHS Cardiff show manager, said: “There is always excitement surrounding the RHS Flower Show Cardiff as it not only marks the start of the gardening season, but is the first outside RHS show of the year.
“Everyone pulls out all the stops to bring some of the best gardens and floral displays for a fantastic celebration of spring.”
Tickets are available from www.rhs.org. uk or on the door. The event runs from 10am to 5.30pm today and tomorrow and 10am to 4.30pm on Sunday.
