Will judges be buzzing for richard?

-

A WELSHMAN with an unusual skill fancies his chances in the first episode of the new series of Britain’s Got Talent tonight.

Richard Taylor, from Bridgend, practises “mouth popping” – a bizarre musical technique that he hopes the judges will love.

The 50-year-old, who is an environment officer, says it’s “about time” he showcased his skills.

He will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of South Wales’ best known Britain’s Got Talent winner, Paul Potts.

The former mobile phone salesman, who worked in Bridgend’s Carphone Warehouse, won the show’s first series in 2007 with his opera singing and subsequently had his life story turned into a movie.

Meanwhile, last year’s show saw another Bridgend act – mum and singing duo Mel and Jamie - reach the grand final, although they eventually finished in 12th place.

At the start of the 11th series, Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams are once again taking their seats on the judging panel as the show returns. Ant and Dec will host the series. The top prize is £250,000, and the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance 2017.

Acts you can expect to see in the new series include a “love guru”, a 10ft robot and a pair of Simon Cowells.

Producers also promise that this series will feature three recordbreaking acts, and the show’s youngest ever magician.

Britain’s Got Talent returns to ITV tonight at 8pm.
