YOUR PETS Buster had to be the one for family

-

Pet’s name: Age: Eight. Breed: Pug mixed with Jack Russell. Owner: Sarah Meredith, 21, a holiday rep, from Penarth. Owner’s story: “We got Buster from a breeder in Swansea. We were set on him straight away, as soon as we saw him.

“There were eight dogs, but it was Buster as soon as we picked him up.

“We had him from a puppy and he was a bit difficult at first. But then we went on holiday and he stayed with my auntie who has another dog.

“When we came back Buster was very different, the dog had mellowed Buster a bit – he was a bit hyperactive. Buster Meredith.

“He’s quite a barker. As soon as he sees cats he goes a bit nuts.

“We’ve got two other dogs as well so he’s really playful with them.

“I’m not too sure exactly where the name came from, he’s really stocky though. My parents came up with the name and it just stuck. He just looks like a Buster.

“Buster loves walking on beaches. The second his paws touch the sand he’s off.

“He will eat absolutely anything. He ate a battery once before. We didn’t even realise for a while.

“He was a little bit ill, but completely unfazed by it.

“Buster will be nine this year, and he has mellowed out a bit more, but he’s still hyperactive – he doesn’t stop.

“When we first got him he was really tiny, he was too small to even go down the steps in the garden.

“We heard about this technique where you put the dog in an Ikea bag and try and lower them down the steps and help them do it.

“We tried that with him and he went a bit mad when we put him in the bag, so we tried it without and he got stuck halfway down.

“I can remember him just staring up at me.

“Buster was the first dog that I ever had, he’s my favourite family member.”
