Expat returns to tackle 870-mile coast challenge

-

“I think the most challenging part of the hike is the mental side – it is continuing to walk even when the wind and rain are lashing against your body, you feel exhausted and hungry, and you just want to reach the day’s destination as soon as possible.”

Mark will be raising funds for the Corporación Superarse, a Colombian charitable organisation which helps to provide education, healthcare, nutritional and psychological support to children and teenagers from impoverished families.

Speaking about what he is hoping to achieve during the trek, the father of one said: “If I still have some energy and enough time I may even consider hiking along Offa’s Dyke before returning to Colombia.

“I hope to write some books about the trek including many high-quality photographs that will motivate and encourage people from around the world to visit Wales. I will also write about the experience and publish many images on my website.”

He added: “Spending three months walking the Wales Coast Path and visiting my family is going to be an unbelievable and rewarding experience.”
