BOUQUET OF THE WEEK Couple are thanked for helping fundraise towards Scouts’ hall

-

A COUPLE who have dedicated hours of their time raising money for the 2nd Llandaff Scout Group are the worthy recipients of this week’s Echo Bouquet of the Week.

Sharon and Kit Naylor from Llandaff North help with fundraising events for the scout group that their two sons attend.

“I’m absolutely humbled,” said Mrs Naylor. “My son became a young leader at the 2nd Llandaff Scout Group when he was 14, three years ago, and ever since we’ve been involved with helping the group from there.”

Recent fundraising efforts have been centred on helping the 2nd Llandaff Scout Group save their hall in Bellevue Crescent.

The United Reformed Church (URC), which owns the site, is selling off the land and the Scout group must raise the asking price of £225,000 to buy the plot or find other premises.

Mrs Naylor said: “We put up a large banner in our garden as we live on a main road to help raise funds for the group to buy the Scouts’ hall.

“Having a long-term home for the Scouts is really important.

“They have given my two boys a great start in life, and I think it is right others get the same opportunities that we did.”

Mr and Mrs Naylor were nominated by Abigail Gibbons, the 2nd Llandaff Scout Group’s assistant leader.

“Sharon and Kit Naylor have provided the 2nd Llandaff Scout Group with endless support, be it taking time to help shake buckets, baking cakes for fundraising or devoting many, many hours to the Scout post,” said Ms Gibbons.

“Their enthusiasm is unfathomable and they are stalwart supporters in what has been a very difficult 18-month campaign.”
