Lots to Love about Doctor

-

THE LOVE DOCTOR appears to face his easiest task to date in Windsor’s opening five-furlong maiden on Monday.

David Evans’ youngster made his debut in a division of the Brocklesby at Doncaster on the opening day of the season, faring really well when second to Requinto Dawn.

The Richard Fahey-trained winner has since run excellently under a penalty whenmsecond to a Royal Ascot-bound juvenile of Bryan Smart’s.

Evans then sent the Elnadim colt to Newmarket for a hot looking event, won by another with Ascot pretensions in Sound And Silence.

The Love Doctor was only just run out of the places there but possibly achieved a higher level of form, so while there are some likely types among the newcomers, they will have to run to a high mark to trouble the selection.

Saeed bin Surror’s Sea Skimmer still holds an Investec Derby entry so he will have to be winning the 10-furlong maiden if that is to be taken up.

The Dubawi colt is a fullbrother to the smart Hunters Light and he showed enough when fifth of 14 in a Newbury maiden on his debut to suggest that he will be winning races soon.

Bin Suroor has started the season in excellent heart, with his horses much more forward for this time of year than usual, and the form of the Newbury race has worked out.

While the winner, Rosarno, has been entered in the King Edward VII at Royal Ascot the runner-up, International Law, came out and won next time.

Karl Burke’s Havana Grey was backed as if defeat was out of the question on his debut and can make amends in the five-furlong novice stakes at Ayr.

Backed at all rates down to 5-4 favouritism, he pulled clear with the eventual winner Simmy’s Copshop only to lose out by half a length.

Compensation should be swift.

James Doyle and John Gosden team up with Mark Of Approval in the one-mile maiden at Southwell.

Being by the American sire Lemon Drop Kid, the surface is not an issue and he showed up very well on his debut at the Craven meeting.

Third behind two likely types, on paper at least, Gosden has found him a very winnable opportunity.
