‘A LOVING DAD, SON AND GREAT FRIEND’

FAMILY PAYS TRIBUTE TO DRIVER WHO DIED IN COLLISION WITH HGV

THE family of a man who died in a collision in Llanharry have described him as “a loving dad, son and friend to many”.

Mark Golubovic, 32, died after the car he was driving was in a collision with a heavy goods vehicle, which was travelling in the opposite direction along Llanharry Road on Saturday at about 8.30am.

South Wales Police said yesterday that Mr Golubovic’s mother Irene, a passenger in the vehicle, was seriously injured and remained at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

In a statement released yesterday morning, Mr Golubovic’s family said: “The whole family are heartbroke­n and are trying to come to terms with the tragic accident that has taken Mark from us. Mark was a loving dad, son and a great friend to many. Our thoughts are also with his mother Irene who is currently in intensive care at UHW.”

Floral tributes have been left at the scene of the incident following the collision. One read: “Will miss you dear friend. Gone too soon but never forgotten. Will miss our chats and your outlook on life. Until we meet again.”

Another read: “Can’t believe what have happened. You was such a lovely boy with not a bad bone in you. Will never forget you.”

After the collision on Saturday, a police spokesman said: “Emergency services are in attendance at a serious road traffic collision involving a motor car and a heavy goods vehicle on Llanharry Road, Llanharry.

“There are a number of persons injured and the road will be completely blocked for a number of hours.

“We would like to thank the public for their patience while the incident is being dealt with and any witnesses to the collision are asked to telephone South Wales Police on 101 quoting occurrence number 1700171795.”
