BABIES Little Alfie is a very relaxed and happy baby

-

Baby’s name: Date and place of birth: October 28 at 10.10am at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny. Weight: 8lb 11oz. Parents: Mum Dani Edwards, 21, a retail worker, and dad Liam Ball, 20, a gas engineer, from Caerphilly. Mum’s story: “The pregnancy was fine, it just all went wrong in the labour.

“I went to the hospital originally in a lot of pain, but because I was only 1cm dilated they sent me home, so I was home for about two hours and then it got worse.

“He just did not want to come out so they had to rush me down and they used forceps on me.

“I was in labour for about 10 hours before all of this happened. Alfie EdwardsBall. So it wasn’t great really.

“I lost a lot of blood during the whole thing, I was anaemic by the time I came out.

“I had to have a lot of tests to see if I needed to have a blood transfusion.

“He was a big baby too at 8lb 11oz and he was 55cm long.

“When he was born he was straight into clothes for babies up to three months. He was too big for newborn clothes.

“After he was born, my boyfriend just said ‘Why don’t we call him Alfie?’ I’m not sure where it came from.

“We couldn’t decide on a name at all, and it was about an hour after he was born that my boyfriend said Alfie.

“He sleeps fab, for about nine to 10 hours. We’re very lucky.

“I’d say he’s a very relaxed and happy baby. One of his favourite things is watching Bing on CBeebies and putting things in his mouth. One of our favourite things to do is go for nice walks with him.

“Everyone tells me he looks like me. He does some days but some days he looks like his dad when he pulls certain faces, but people say he’s the spit of me.

“The first time we took him home was lovely. I was shattered – I didn’t sleep for about 37 hours through the labour.

“It was a massive relief to get him home. It was a shock to think that he was here.

“Life has changed tremendously since we’ve had him. It’s changed completely, but for the better.

“The fact that I have got someone dependent on me, and it’s not just myself any more.”
