EATINGOUT Tuck in to a Welsh feast of top class food

EVEN though Barry is really not that far away, Cardiff foodies will be rejoicing to hear the news that the award-winning Hang Fire Southern Kitchen will be bringing their brilliant barbecue to the city for one special night.

Sam Evans and Shauna Guinn, who have set up a restaurant at Barry’s Pumphouse, will be joining the MealSq Menywod sharing their Welsh-inspired barbecue which has gained them thousands of fans across the country.

They will be joining other independen­t food retailers to bring together a multi-course feast.

Here’s the important informatio­n:

Who will be at the event? It’s no understate­ment to say the menu will be amazing, with contributi­ons from Hang Fire, as well as Penylan Pantry – famous for their ethical and sustainabl­e approach to delicious food.

Lia’s Kitchen will also be there cooking home-cooked Greek/Welsh dishes and Brød’s Betina Skovbro will share her Danish dessert skills.

To complement the food, drinks expert Erika Duffy will be on call for liquid refreshmen­ts and Ashli Todd from Spillers Records will be providing the soundtrack to the evening. What is MealSq? The ethos of MealSq is to bring together local independen­ts. This event - MealSq Menywod - will focus on “cooking from the heartland” and celebrate female talent in Wales, in a bid to raise money for Action Against Hunger. Where is it? This MealSq event will be at Waterloo Tea, Wyndham Arcade, Cardiff. Accessed via the Hayes/Bills entrance only.

When is MealSq Menyod? The event is on May 21 between 7pm-11pm.
