YOUR PETS Thanks to famous cartoon for an amazing 10 years

-

Pet’s name: Lorna Doone. Age: Ten-and-a-half years old. Breed: Dalmatian. Owners: Robert, company director of family business, 54, and Katharine Shaw, 47, from Llanishen, Cardiff. Owner’s story: “We found ourselves with a Dalmatian, like most we imagine do, thanks to Disney’s animated 101 Dalmatians. Who could have guessed that a cartoon would have such a major impact on our lives?

“From the day we met Lorna, we knew we were in trouble.

“Not only were we warned that she was the biggest of the litter, but also that she was the most boisterous, hence the breed giving her the rather apt nickname of Burther.

“Lorna’s energy levels appear to be in defiance of the natural ageing process, in constant demand for attention.

“Occasionally we find Lorna on the piano stool, where she enjoys to perch until she knocks a key, resulting in a barking match with the piano.

“Her favourite time of year is Christmas, where she likes to help herself to much of the food, consequently our family have experienced one too many turkey-less Christmases.

“It’s hard to identify what her favourite food is, as she gobbles down the edible and non-edible with the same amount of enthusiasm.

“Sadly Lorna is lacking in fellow canine friends, we thinks it’s because her spots confuse dogs into thinking she is covered in eyes. Or she is so humanised that she doesn’t even feel the need to mix with animals of her own species.

“Like a human, Lorna can open doors with ease, steal toast from the toaster with her paw and, conversely, she can accidently make some.

“She also sits on chairs whilst secretly drinking tea from the cups like a true lady.

“Although all consuming, and frankly rather exhausting she’s been impossible not to love, we thank Walt Disney for an amazing 10 years.”
