City’s first cat cafe set to open this summer

-

CARDIFF’S first cat cafe will open this summer.

The Feline Good Cat Cafe is setting up shop in Meridian Court near the Gabalfa roundabout and is on course to open its doors in July.

The cafe has been described as a foster home for kitties and a home-from-home for cat lovers in Cardiff where they can relax, de-stress and tuck into tea and cake in the company of content rescue kitties.

The brains behind the cafe is Hollie Bowler-Brown, an IT professional with a background in retail and a passion for animals.

She crowdfunded for the cafe through an Indiegogo campaign, which raised thousands for the venture.

The cats all come from Mittens, a cat rescue based in Llantwit Major which helps cats and kittens all over South Wales.

They are currently being socialised in a home environment ahead of the opening of the cafe, to ensure they start life in Feline Good happy and healthy.

They are exposed to the hustle and bustle of daily life, everything from vacuum cleaners to service dogs, and meeting new people every day.

On its website, the cafe says its goal is to rehome each cat in the cafe when they feel the cat is ready.

It says a team of labourers have moved in to knock out temporary walls that currently divide the room to create a bright, open space and install a kitchen.

The website adds: “Once the walls have been knocked down and the kitchen has been fitted, things like our CCTV system, new flooring and ceiling tiles, our furniture and finally our cats can enter the premises.

“They will have a brief settling in period, where they can get used to their new home before we start training our staff and preparing to open.”

The first cat cafe opened in Taiwan in 1998.
