The couple: Ryan Murphy, 35, from Llandaff North, Cardiff, and Chetna Upadhyay, 32, from Danescourt, Cardiff.

Ryan is a decorator and Chetna works as a college lecturer at Cardiff and Vale College.

The couple live North. The venue: The wedding took place at Clearwell Castle, in the Forest of Dean, on March 24. How they met: The couple met in 2013.

Chetna said: “Ryan pursued me for a few weeks but I wasn’t having any of it!

“After a little persuasion from a mutual friend and a couple of bottles of champagne sent for me and my friends for my birthday, I finally agreed to go on a date.

“We went on a date each day in Llandaff after that for four consecutive days, I can safely say it sealed the deal.” The proposal: Ryan proposed on New Year’s Eve in 2015 in New York.

He popped the question on a boat on the Hudson River next to the Statue of Liberty.

As he went down on one knee fireworks were exploding over New York City.

“But the ring was not like any other,” Chetna said.

“In fact it was a Haribo sweet. We purchased a ring the very next day.” The wedding: Chetna said: “I remember feeling really calm until one of my bridesmaids gave me a present and a card sent from Ryan.

“Reading his sweet words filled me with emotion and reality.

“Walking down the aisle with my father, facing all my family and friends and locking eyes with Ryan was so special.”

The couple followed a traditional ceremony with an Indian ceremony.

After a quick outfit change, the couple were escorted to the second area by two dhol drummers.

“Our guests were surprised throughout the day,” added Chetna.

“The dancefloor was packed all night long and Ryan and I had a very memorable wedding. We wouldn’t change a thing.” The honeymoon: The couple went on a “mini moon” after the wedding and visited Verona and Lake Garda. They are jetting off for a big honeymoon at the end August to Tanzania for a safari tour before travelling to Zanzibar for a weeklong relaxing break.
