Changes to city refuse collections

-

THERE will be changes to bin collections over the bank holiday and due to the Champions League final.

Monday is a bank holiday which means collections will be a day later than usual next week.

Then, due to the Champions League final being played in the city, there will be more changes.

Anyone who normally has their waste collected on a Friday will instead have it collected two days later.

Residents in Heath, Whitchurch, Rhiwbina, Llanishen and Lisvane will all be affected, according to Cardiff council.

Instead of collections on Friday, June 2, they will be on Sunday, June 4.

A council spokesman said: residents are able to present “Most their general and recyclable waste out a day later as normal for Bank Holiday weeks.

“But because the city is proudly staging the Uefa Champions League final on the Saturday following this year’s Whitsun Bank Holiday, the city will be extremely busy.

“Therefore, the sensible option for us is to collect the Friday areas on Sunday, June 4.

“It is hoped that these arrangements won’t cause too much inconvenience.

“Our waste education and enforcement teams will be working in the areas affected to advise residents of this change, however to avoid any confusion in the future we would recommend customers sign up to our email reminder service.

“This service is free to sign up to and means you will always be sent your recycling and waste collection date the night before collection.”
