HOT HOUSE II

-

AFORMER army barracks is up for auction and the site has been billed as an ideal space for converting into something potentially more profitable – such as an outdoor pursuits centre. The Pentre property, which listed with Paul Fosh Auctions, has a guide price of £135,000 and the auction is taking place today.

Located in Griffith Street, Pentre, the property will be going under the hammer at The Park Inn Hotel in Cardiff.

It’s made up of mostly level land and the lot consists of four singlestorey buildings – which include a classroom, a rifle range and a storage unit.

The main building on the site currently includes a caretaker’s house, various dormitories, garages, a drill hall and a former armoury.

Taking in the land and the buildings, the area of the site is about 4.07 acres and offers potential for further development, subject to necessary planning permission.

Paul Fosh Auctions lists its potential uses as an outdoor pursuit centre, a hotel, bed and breakfast, industrial units, or storage. The firm even says there’s scope for residential use – again, subject to the necessary planning consents.

Outside the buildings, you’ll find land which is made up of both lawned areas and woodland.

The site is close to the village of Pentre, which lies to the north of the Rhondda valley, and the barracks are also close to the town of Treorchy, as well as the scenic Brecon Beacons and Afan Forest.

For anyone in the property, more information about the auction can be found at www.paulfoshauctions. com/pfa-auctions.php?lid=60984& ClientID=37&src=67.

The auction is being held at 5pm today at The Park Inn Hotel, Circle Way East, Llanedeyrn, Cardiff, CF23 9XF.
