BEST OF THE REST
THE MARTIN LEWIS MONEY SHOW LIVE ITV, 8pm
THREE cheers for Martin Lewis – the man who lives to save us cash, whose sole purpose is to count our pennies.
He’s back with another special and this time the financial guru promises to show us how to get a blowout holiday without breaking the bank.
We imagine there are plenty of travel agents who would happily use Martin’s face as a dartboard right now, but it’s good news for the rest of us.
Live from the end of Bournemouth Pier, Martin brings us all his hot tips, with the help of Ranvir Singh, and viewers are also invited to get in touch during the show.
“I believe the British public should get a better deal on their breaks,” says Martin, who will provide tips on getting cheap flights during the peak season, the best way of spending abroad, and how to get cash back when holidays go wrong.
There’s also an exclusive list of free and discounted trips in the UK to keep your family entertained during the notoriously expensive summer season.
SUPERCHARGED OTTERS: NATURAL WORLD BBC2, 8pm
WILDLIFE cameraman Charlie Hamilton James is a self-confessed otter fanatic.
He even once adopted an orphan otter, Honey, who became part of the family.
“I could happily do nothing else but hang with otters,” he says, just in case we weren’t convinced of his love for the furry creatures.
Otters are not just cute, they are also playful, adaptable and champion swimmers, masters of both land and water.
“Otters are survivors, supercharged with an incredible array of skills,” says Charlie, who has been filming them for years.
Now he follows the progress of three other orphans as they grow up in an American rehab sanctuary, from being fed chopped fish and milk formula to learning how to hunt for fish.
The baby otters also go for a dip in a paddling pool to learn not to be afraid of water. Strangely, their coats are not waterproof until they are 12 weeks old.
Watch out also for amazing footage as one otter family stages a three-hour attack on a black caiman – and wins.
