POLICE PROBE MYSTERY DEATH

POLICE are investigating after a woman died in suspicious circumstances.

South Wales Police said they are investigating the death of a woman in Penrhiwceiber near Mountain Ash, and that a man is helping them with their enquiries.

Officers were yesterday stationed at a terraced property on Rheola Street in the village.

Police vans and cars were in the area and officers were spotted removing items in bags from a house.

Councillor Gavin Williams, who represents Penrhiwceiber on Rhondda Cynon Taf council, said the community had remained calm in the face of the police activity. He added: “With regards to the incident, it’s in the hands of the police and I have been in contact with the police over the last couple of days.

“As far as information goes there’s not much I can say until the police finish their investigation.

“The community are fine,” he added.

“I have spoken to them and told them that there’s nothing to worry about and that I have been assured by the police who have told me if there are any more developments they’ll contact me.”
