New owner to aid gardens day at tearoom opening

-

A MUCH-LOVED vintage-style tearoom on the outskirks of Cardiff has been taken over by new owners after it was advertised on website Gumtree.

Bethan Kate’s Tearoom in Bronllwyn, Pentyrch, which was previously the popular Lady Jane’s Tearoom, will be holding a reopening event tomorrow.

The event will coincide with a local open gardens event in the village which raises money for charity and will see some free tasters handed out.

Owner Bethan Horn said: “Myself and my fiancé Mark moved into Pentyrch last year and only live a few doors up from the tearoom. We love the village and fell in love with the tearoom as soon as we saw it, so we’re both so excited for our new venture.

“I’m so pleased to say that we will be having an official opening this Sunday, under the new name Bethan Kate’s Tearoom.”

And despite living so close, it was by chance that Bethan took over the tearoom – after she found it advertised on Gumtree.

The launch event will see the tearoom serve cake tasters and free Prosecco to customers, as well as selling open-dated afternoon tea vouchers – with 50p from each sale going towards the Pentyrch Open Gardens charity.

The tearoom will be open from noon until 4pm.

Bethan said: “I won’t be selling any hot drinks or cake on Sunday – I’ll send anyone who’d like any to the open gardens and up to the village hall for those.”

The tearoom will then be open from Tuesday with usual opening hours being from 9am until 5pm from Tuesday to Saturday. The venue will usually be closed on Sundays and Mondays.

The tearoom will be serving a range of food, from sandwiches and wraps to baguettes and paninis along with a selection of cakes and sweet treats.

And of course they’ll be serving afternoon tea – which will only be available by booking beforehand and will include a selection of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, selection of petite fours, a slice of homemade cake of your choice and unlimited tea and coffee.
