A HEARING into the death of a teenager who was taken ill on Caerphilly Mountain has heard that the cause of her death is still unknown.

Shauna Davies, 15, from the Caerphilly area, died on June 18 following concerns for her health.

Paramedics and police officers were called to an area off Caerphilly Mountain Road and Shauna died shortly after they arrived at the scene.

A pre-inquest hearing held at Newport Coroners’ Court on Mon- day was told a post-mortem examination was carried out shortly after Shauna’s death but a cause has not yet been established.

Senior coroner for Gwent David Bowen adjourned the inquest for three months in order for more tests to be carried out.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with the supply of drugs, believed to be in connection with Shauna’s death.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is due to appear at Cwmbran Magistrates’ Court later this month.

Four other people who were arrested were released under investigation.

Speaking after Shauna’s death, her “proud” parents described their grief over the death of their daughter, who attended Bedwas High School.

They said: “Shauna was a beautiful person inside and out, always bubbly, genuine and loyal to everyone.

“She was loved by so many people, she loved her brother and sister and friends and was fiercely loyal to them. “She will be missed by so many. “We were very proud parents. Fly high our beautiful angel.”
