“With more than 15 stalls already confirmed, it will be a great community occasion and a chance for local businesses, including new start-ups, to welcome people into the Grangetown shopping district.”

The event has been planned by the university’s Enterprise Team and Cardiff Business School undergraduates with funding from the City Region Exchange project and support from Cardiff Council and Grangetown Hyb.

Bilal Anjum, a Cardiff University student who will be selling his One Unity Clothing brand at the market, said: “My aims are like other start-up brands, to be big as possible in terms of sales and exposure.

“Grangetown World Market important step in this ambition.

“However, in three years time or more I want to be the biggest Arabic-inspired is an brand in the world.

“I also want to be able to make an impact on charity projects and be able to support local communities too.”

The Community Gateway project is one of Cardiff University’s flagship schemes, and works with residents to make the area a better place to live.

Community Gateway manager Rosie Cripps said: “It’s been fantastic to work directly with so many Grangetown businesses from young entrepreneurs to Grangetown institutions like Divine Beauty and Clark’s pies.

“We hope Grangetown World Market will encourage people from across Cardiff and the City Region to experience what Grangetown has to offer and encourage locals to shop locally.”
