A MURDER investigation has been launched after a man died following a disturbance in a Cardiff street.
Police were called to Theodora Street in Adamsdown at about 3.30am on Thursday, July 13, following reports of a serious assault.
A 37-year-old man was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff with serious injuries but he was pronounced dead on Sunday.
The victim’s family is being supported by specially trained police officers.
Detective Superintendent Richard Jones, head of major crime at South Wales Police, said: “The death is being treated as murder and a full investigation into what happened is underway.”
Following the incident, an 18-yearold man from Tremorfa has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.
A 45-year-old man who was also arrested is currently on police bail.
Det Supt Jones added: “I would appeal to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Pearl Street, Theodora Street or Broadway area of the city during the early hours of Thursday, July 13 to contact us.”
On Thursday, Theodora Street was closed off with a heavy police presence in the street. There were also yellow evidence markers running down the middle of the road, where blood was clearly visible.
In adjoining Broadway, there was a significant amount of blood on the pavement outside the Ladbrokes bookmakers which was also sealed off.
None of the residents living nearby were able to move their cars and the road was closed for several hours.
