The following cases were heard at Cardiff Magistrate­s’ Court:

Luis Filipe Pereira Brito, 38, from Ferry Court in Grangetown, Cardiff, admitted driving without due care and attention. He was driving a Chevrolet on Castle Street at the time of the offence. He was fined £300 and received four points on his licence. He must pay a £30 victim surcharge, plus £85 costs.

Stephen Michael Coombs, 59, from Cowslip Drive in Penarth, admitted using threatenin­g, abusive or insulting words or behaviour. The court found that the offence was racially aggravated. He was fined £300 and ordered to pay £30 towards victim services, plus £85 in costs.

Ann Marie Evans, 47, from Whitaker Road in Splott, Cardiff, was fined £100 for speeding. She was driving a Landrover Freelander on Newport Road when she exceeded the 30mph limit. She was fined £100 and received three points on her licence. She must pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecutio­n Service.

Craig Geoffrey Smith, 38, from Dyfrig Road in Cardiff, admitted sending offensive messages and assault by beating. A community order was made, requiring him to comply with a month-long curfew and complete seven days of a rehabilita­tion activity. Restrainin­g orders were imposed and he was ordered to pay an £85 victim surcharge, plus £85 in costs.
