CITY MURDER PROBE: TRIBUTE PAID TO DOTING DAD
A DAD of two whose death has sparked a murder investigation has been remembered as a “great son, father, brother and uncle” by his grieving family.
Sean Kelly, 37, died in hospital on Sunday following an alleged earlyhours assault in Adamsdown, Cardiff, on Thursday.
Police were called to Theodora Street at about 3.30am that day following reports of a disturbance.
He was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff with serious injuries.
As reported in yesterday’s Echo, officers from South Wales Police confirmed that a murder investigation had been launched after he died in hospital.
Mr Kelly’s family is being supported by specially trained officers.
His family has released the following tribute to him: “Sean was a funloving guy who loved life and lived it to the full.
“He was also a great son, father, brother and uncle.
“He was a doting dad to his two children and he’s going to be extremely missed by all.
“We would like privacy at this time to grieve.”
South Wales Police Major Crime Detective Superintendent, Richard Jones, said: “We are continuing our appeal for anybody who may have information to come forward if they have not already done so.
“I would like to thank the public for their support to date and reassure them that we are maintaining high visibility patrols in the area,” he said.
“Our condolences go out to Sean’s family at this time and our investigation continues – they are being supported by specially trained officers.”
He added: “A full investigation into what happened is under way.”
Last Thursday, Theodora Street was closed off with a heavy police presence in the area as forensic officers examined what appeared to be blood stains on the street.
Adjoining Broadway was also sealed off for several hours as officers carried out their investigations.
Two men have been charged with murder and are due to appear in court this morning. Aaron Bingham also known as Aaron Omar, 18, from Tremorfa and Nicholas Hussein Saleh, 45 from Adamsdown will appear before Cardiff magistrates.
