BABIES Baby fionna named after mum’s sister

-

Baby’s name: Fionna Maiigh Trigg. Date and place of birth: July 9 at 5.51pm at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. Weight: 7lb 1oz. Parents: Mum Sophie Gough, 26, and dad Tobias Trigg, 28, a gas engineer, from Llanrumney, Cardiff. Mum’s story: “Fionna is my third child. The pregnancy with her was completely different.

“With my two boys I was up and about all fine. But with Fionna I had horrendous sickness for most of it.

“I even spent about six weeks in bed, just bed bound with it.

“I had a natural birth and it was all over really quick. I went into labour on the Friday, but they sent me home and I was having regular timings with the contractions.

“I went back on the Saturday and they checked if my waters had broken yet. I went up for the check and they said I was about 3cm dilated.

“I was given some antibiotics at about 1pm and by about 5.50pm she was born.

“We stayed in hospital for a day because they had to give her some observations.

“I had strep B [a type of infection] as it can be passed on.

“We named her Fionna after my sister who passed away when she was 17 days old.

“She had a heart problem and then had an infection. So we named her after my sister.

“The first time we took her home was lovely. The boys [Theo, six, and Isaac, four] were so excited to see her bless them.

“They just adjusted to her straight away really, like she had always been there.

“Fionna is really content, she’s a good baby.

“She sleeps right through the day as well and she doesn’t cry much.

“She has a bit of an active period in the early night, but other than that she’s great and we can’t complain.

“The only cravings I had were towards the end of my pregnancy when I craved tip-tops and milkshakes. It was anything really icy and cold like that that I fancied.”
