YOUR PETS Benny, Jasper and Brodie love cwtches and trips to the beach

-

Pet names: Benny, Jasper and Brodie. Breeds: Benny is a cockapoo and Jasper and Brodie are cocker spaniels. Ages: Benny is two, Jasper is 11 and Brodie is 13. Owner: Ros Howell, 42, a professional dog walker from Pentwyn, Cardiff. Owner’s story: “Benny is an absolute lunatic. You can see in the picture that he’s a bit mad!

“The other two are a bit older now so they both tolerate him and put up with his antics.

“Jasper didn’t actually like Benny at first. It took him about a year to actually learn to deal with him.

“Benny likes all of the trick training and he likes learning new ones. He can even do a handstand trick.

“They all love their food. If you put food down they will definitely eat it if you don’t watch them.

“With Brodie’s age he does have a bit of a deafness but I think it’s selective deafness. He uses his old age to his advantage.

“They really like eating their vegetables like broccoli so they have a healthy diet.

“I could not imagine life without my dogs now. I’m a professional dog walker as well but the two oldest can’t walk as far or as much as they used to now.

“Benny loves going to all the regular spots in Cardiff like Bute Park.

“We do go further afield sometimes too, like Castle Coch, and they all love the beach.

“We go to Porthcawl or Barry, and Ogmore which is dog-friendly all year round. So they are quite well travelled.

“Jasper is a little bit dopey really. He’s not the brightest spark but he’s still very lovable.

“Brodie and Jasper are both cwtchy and they like lying on your lap, which they do more of now.

“Benny does eventually stop when he’s had a good day out and a long walk.

“Benny has got a favourite teddy. It was left at my mum’s house once and when he got it back he was so happy, he kept licking it.

“Jasper puts his head under water trying to get stones from the river and he also once fell off a canal boat we hired as he was looking at the water!

“We obviously saved him but it was funny at the time. Brodie once pinched a whole naan bread from my husband’s plate when my husband turned around for a second, and wolfed it down.

“They are all a huge, important part of our family.”
