WEDDINGS Romantic proposal for couple who met on lifeguard course

-

The couple: Astrid Morgan, 25, from Creigiau, and Nathan Price, 23, from Porth. Astrid is a French and Spanish teacher and Nathan works for a housing association in Pontypridd. They live in Church Village. The venue: The wedding took place at The Coed y Mwstwr Hotel, in Coychurch, Bridgend on July 30. How they met: The couple met in a very unconventional way.

Astrid said: “We met when we were around 16 at the most unlikely of places – on a lifeguarding course at Tonyrefail Leisure Centre.

“We got on really well during the course and decided to stay in contact.

“We met up in Bute Park, in Cardiff, for our first date a few weeks later.”

The couple have been together since. The proposal: Nathan popped the question at Tintern Abbey last year, and it was more than romantic.

Astrid said: “We had a very romantic picnic at Devil’s Pulpit, overlooking Tintern Abbey.

“During the picnic I turned to Nathan and said ‘well wouldn’t this be a perfect place to propose,’ and only a few minutes later that was exactly what happened.

“Despite my comment I truly didn’t think that’s what he had planned.

“On our hike back down Nathan told me that he’d booked us into the Celtic Manor to celebrate and we were greeted with champagne, red roses and chocolates.” The wedding: The couple were expecting rain a few days before the wedding.

But this didn’t stop them from enjoying their wedding.

“Despite waking up at the venue to grey skies and heavy rain, to our surprise the most gorgeous sunshine appeared,” said Astrid.

“Thankfully, it stayed for the majority of the day!”

The couple found time to enjoy each other’s company all day, and they sat back and enjoyed it with their nearest and dearest.

Astrid added: “Without trying to sound too cliché – we truly had the greatest day of our lives.” The honeymoon: Astrid and Nathan are set to venture on a cruise from Barcelona to Rome soon.
