BABIES Ruby’s laid-back like her dad

-

Baby’s name: Ruby Rose Evans Date and place of birth: July 23 at 12.42am at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant. Weight: 7lb 4oz Parents: Demi Belcher, 21, a dog walker, and dad Rhys Evans, 23, a contract manager from Tonyrefail. Mum’s story: “This is my first baby and I was feeling anxious towards the end but overall it went smoothly.

“I didn’t really have any morning sickness, I was sick a few times but it wasn’t too bad.

“The only real craving that I had was for lemon sorbet. I never would normally order it in a restaurant before but I loved it. I haven’t had it since Ruby either.

“I really liked the name Ruby from the start. My niece has got Ruby as her middle name so we thought that it would be nice too. It was an easy choice really.

“The whole birth was really good too. I had a water birth, which I was really pleased about because I had always said that I wanted one of those. It was more relaxing too.

“I know that sometimes it’s first come first served but I was lucky enough to have one with Ruby.

“The whole labour was around three and a half hours long. I just had some gas and air.

“We were both home about six hours later.

“Ruby is absolutely fab. She’s put on two pounds already in three weeks.

“We had her weighed again recently and she’s a good weight. She likes her food and she’s constantly got a bottle in her hand.

“I would say looks-wise she definitely takes after dad. She’s got his face and his ears but her nose is like mine.

“Temperament-wise she’s like her dad too because she’s very laidback.

“At the moment she wakes up three times a night for a feed. She goes straight back to sleep after her bottle and a nappy change.

“Ruby loves going out in her pram and she likes going out in the car too.

“I can’t even remember what we used to do before Ruby really. I just think ‘What on earth did we do?’”
