Bluebirds feel benefit of everyone pulling in same direction on road to top

WHAT a start to the season for the Bluebirds. Three wins out of three, six goals scored, none conceded, top of the table.

Next up, after one of my old clubs Sheffield United on Tuesday, comes another one in the shape of Wolves at Molineux this weekend.

Just like Cardiff City fans, Wolves supporters are fantastic. I can tell you that from first-hand experience of my own playing days up there.

With 2,000 Bluebirds expected to travel, it’s going to be a rip-roaring occasion. But what can we expect to happen and what have been the main talking points thus far behind our 100 per cent start to the season? Here’s my take.

There has been a reconnect between the fans and the club and long may that continue. It is the most rewarding thing about what is happening right at this moment in time.

Everyone is pulling in the same direction again. The manager, the team, the Board of directors, the fans. No big-time Charlies in the dressing room. It’s perfectly harmonious, like they are coming together as one in the shape of an arrow.

My plea to the fans is to keep it like that and for those who have stayed away to consider returning.

Hey, I understand as much as the next supporter why there has been such disquiet amongst them over the past four to five years.

I nailed my colours to the mast early doors with regards the red rebrand, the change of the badge. That was horrendous, I didn’t like it when it was first announced, I never got used to the idea.

Some have said they will never come back and that, of course, is their right as paying customers.

However, for those who might be missing it a little, or those staying away for entirely different reasons, I’d say this – do you really want to be on the outside looking in if something truly special is achieved? And I do sense we’re on the brink of that.

For that to happen, we need a full, bouncing stadium. It will make the difference between Cardiff going up and going on to bigger and better
