Mod theme for pair who met through dating site

-

The couple: Deborah Brereton, 54, from Barry, and Simon Brereton, 51, from Chippenham. The couple live together in Barry. The wedding: Deborah and Simon were married on July 29 at City Hall in Cardiff.

After the ceremony the wedding party travelled to the Seashore Grill in Sully to raise a glass to the newly-married couple. How they met: The couple met on a dating site but they had chatted for a long time before they decided to meet in person.

Deborah said: “We were not nervous about meeting each other as we’d been speaking online for a year.

“Our first date was at the Walston Castle in Wenvoe.

“When we met for our first date we felt like we had known each other for years.”

Following the long-anticipated meeting the couple never looked back. The proposal: Simon asked Deborah’s dad if he could have her hand in marriage on Christmas Day in 2015.

Following the very traditional gesture he went on to propose to Deborah and she said “yes”. The wedding: Deborah and Simon say they had a wonderful wedding and the day was full of life and colour.

The bride and bridesmaids arrived at the ceremony in a 1963 camper van which added a really quirky edge to the day.

They also incorporated lots of touches to remind them of their favourite generation – the Mod era.

Deborah said: “We love scooters, and the whole Mod era, so we also had two 1960 Lambretta scooters.

“They were supplied by Paul Angie Boyce and Jez Marks.

“At the wedding the colour theme was red, white and blue.

“My dress was white and I had lovely red shoes which everyone complimented me on.”

To tie in with the theme the couple’s daughters also wore vintage-style blue bridesmaids dresses. The honeymoon: Deborah and Simon didn’t jet off abroad straight after the wedding but they are travelling to southern Spain to celebrate later in the year.
