Sunny weather forecast for city’s pride parade
THE weather is looking pleasantly dry and there is plenty happening on Bank Holiday weekend, but there might be just one problem – getting around.
Met Office forecasters predict that much of England and Wales will see mainly dry conditions, with sunny spells, and temperatures reaching around 24°C in the south.
There will be a rather cloudy start today, but it will become brighter with some warm sunny spells developing through the day. The odd shower also remains possible.
Tomorrow is expected to be mainly dry, bright and warm.
Monday should start bright, but it will turn breezier, with rain possible by the evening. Temperatures should be around the 23-24°C mark.
Weather forecaster Liam Dutton said: “The Bank Holiday weekend is looking decent – especially for England and Wales, with some warmth and sunshine.
“For much of the bank holiday weekend the jet stream will be quite weak. It’ll also be across the north of the UK, which is where any rain or showers are most likely. However, the jet stream will pick up speed on Bank Holiday Monday, sending cloud, wind and rain eastwards.”
The Welsh capital will be bursting with pride this weekend as Pride Cymru’s Big Weekend 2017 kicks off.
The official Pride parade starts at 11am today.
Registration is from 10am at the top of Queen Street and it will finish at 12.30pm on the corner of North Road.
If sport is more your thing, Cardiff Bay will be hosting the Extreme Sailing Series for the sixth year running fat the Cardiff Harbour Festival.
The enclosed bay provides the ideal stadium racing venue for spectators to get up close and personal to the racing from all sides.
As well as the adrenaline-fuelled on-water action, there is plenty of onshore entertainment around the Bay and in the free entry Fan Zone.
If you happen to prefer more obscure sports, then you should head to Llanwrtyd Wells as Sunday sees the 32nd World Bog Snorkelling Championships.
The event was described by Lonely Planet as one of the top 50 “must do” things from around the world in 2014, and the top bog snorkelers from around the globe will be heading to Wales to get wet and muddy.
Hundreds of international participants and plenty of spectators are expected once again.
With people set to be on the move around Wales and beyond for the long weekend, there will be pressure on the transport network.
This will be made worse by extensive maintenance work in South Wales due to electrification.
