BATH TO THE FUTURE

-

It might be one of the smallest, but the bathroom is definitely up there when it comes to the most important rooms in the home. After all, it has to be functional, which makes it a technically demanding room. But let’s face it, who doesn’t want a gorgeous bathroom – a haven in which to unwind, away from the demands of everyday life.

At the heart of any spa-like sanctuary has to be the bath. But with so many on the market choosing the perfect one is no easy feat.

With free-standing, corner, whirlpool, walk-in, drop-in, recessed and alcove baths – to name but a few – even the terminology can be confusing.

So if you’re looking to give your bathroom an update in the not-sodistant future, but unsure which tub is right for you, my guide may just make the perfect bathtime read.

However, if you are after a true slice of luxury Victoria + Albert Baths offer some outstanding baths perfect for unwinding.

This inspirational brand has a range of gorgeous freestanding baths crafted from volcanic limestone and high performance resins – and all have been hand-finished.

With both traditional and modern models making up the collection there really is something for every home.

However, for a truly luxurious soak I would highly recommend the Amalfi.

Not only does it look glorious with its sweeping sides, but the extended backrest provides full head support.

We have one on display in our Cardiff showroom and it exudes comfort and sophistication from its every curve.

When I look back to some of my earliest creations it is amazing to see just how much bathrooms have moved on.

I’m not just talking about aesthetics – although who isn’t glad to see the back of avocado suites?

Bathrooms have come a long way when it comes to technology too.

One of the brands leading the way is Italian firm Teuco.

Teuco boasts a wealth of gorgeous tubs, with everything from the freestanding Siena – a beautifully simple tub that is as elegant as it is impressive – to the Seaside collection; square baths packed with the latest whirlpool and lighting tech.

Personally, I love Mia&Me – a traditional rectangular bath complete with the firm’s Hydroline tech.

What is Hydroline? It’s Teuco’s own whirlpool technology, which replaces chunky, unsightly nozzles with discreet, thin slits packed with pressure like that experienced during a massage.

It’s also noiseless, making it perfect for those who want a truly relaxing bathing experience.
