YOUR PETS Finley and Paris love baby Ruby

Pets’ names: Finley and Paris. Breeds: Finley is a French bulldog and Paris is a shih tzu. Ages: Finley is one and a half and Paris is three. Owner: Demi Belcher, walker, from Tonyrefail. Owner’s story: “We got them both from a breeder a few years ago now.

“We’ve got a little baby called Ruby and they both absolutely love her. They don’t go up too close to her like that.

“The French bulldog Finley is a bit more protective of her and likes to make sure that she’s OK but Paris is a bit more relaxed and likes sitting there. 21, a dog

“They both get on really well and they like playing together.

“At first when they met each other they were a bit stand-offish and not as friendly but after a few weeks they were fine and now they get on.

“We had them both from about eight weeks old. They weren’t too bad as puppies really but Finley did chew lots of things.

“We’d just moved into a new house and Finley was chewing everything. He went for the sofa as well, which wasn’t great in a new house.

“The shih tzu was pretty good as a puppy too. She likes to be outside in the garden more.

“They don’t really eat anything unusual but they do like their dog biscuits. We have got to be a bit careful with the French bulldog and watch what they eat.

“When Finley was a puppy he would not want to walk. I’d put the collar on him and he would just lie down sometimes so I’d end up having to drag him along.

“He’d do this in public too, so I’d get a few funny looks.

“I think I’d be lost without them if they weren’t here. I think I’ve always got to have a dog around – even with the baby it’s nice to have them around because it feels busier in the house.”
