Super effort for young footballers
PG10 recently participated in the prestigious 33rd Welsh International Super Cup in Cardiff hosted by Team Tours Direct.
The prestigious junior event has seen top professional footballers such as Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler, Tomas Rosicky, Andrei Shevchenko, Owen Hargreaves and Shay Given grace the tournament over the years.
PG10 had nine young footballers participating in the tournament aged from under-four to under-12 which saw them play more than 60 fixtures against sides from across the UK and the world.
PG10’s under-six to under-11 teams played in non-competitive festivals scoring more than 258 goals, beating last year’s record of 245, and thier efforts caught the attention of a number of professional football scouts.
The under-12s played in a competitive tournament and, after recently winning a tournament at St Georges Park, narrowly lost in the semi-final.
PG10 now send their age groups to Southampton FC Cup where some of the biggest teams in the world such as Chelsea, Porto Southampton, Deportivo La Coruña, Dinamo Zagreb and Bournemouth are also taking part.
Peter Griffiths, of PG10, said: “The first few weeks of the summer holidays has been action-packed and a fantastic experience for all the kids.
“I can’t thank players, parents and coaches enough for their support.
“To play in such a unique tournament which has seen top professionals play in it, is priceless to aid our players’ development and ensure they enjoy themselves playing football.
“We have already played in tournaments at St Georges Park during the holidays and now also travel to Southampton FC for a cup competition – endless opportunities for our players.”
The tournament has set the tone for the season ahead as the academy looks forward to the season again in the Junior Premier League.
