The annual Food Festival returns to St Fagans National History Museum this weekend with a mouthwatering line-up of goodies and treats... as well as a brand new wellness area
Head to St Fagans National History Museum this weekend for a mouthwatering line-up at its annual food festival
AS WELL as tasting the finest Welsh foods and drinks in the unique openair setting, visitors to St Fagans Food Festival can enjoy yoga sessions, aromatherapy and find out more about nutrition in sessions in the new main entrance building, which opened last month.
Those in attendance can taste and buy produce from more than 80 stalls nestling among the museum’s re-constructed buildings, buy bread and cakes baked in the on-site own bakehouse and try home-made pork sausages made with meat from animals reared at the museum.
As well as whetting the appetite, there will be plenty of family-friendly demonstrations and activities to feed the mind. The Oakdale Institute is celebrating its 100th birthday over the weekend – find out more about one of St Fagans favourite buildings.
Pop in to Kennixton Barn to and check out the array of apples on display. Local family butcher John Hughes will be demonstrating the craft of butchery or have a go at milking the model cows or try your hand at fly fishing on the castle lakes with World Champion Hywel Morgan?
St Fagans bread is legendary. Call by Derwen Bakehouse to find out how it’s made. Drop in to Gwalia Stores see what would be in a 1920s shopping bag and how much would it cost?
The brand new wellness area will see Adele Nozedar, the Hedgerow Guru, tell visitors more about the healing power of plants, or take a foraging tour to hunt for edible plants in the hedgerows.
And if you’ve always fancied having a go at yoga there are half hour taster sessions – complete beginners welcome.
There’s a couple of longer sessions on Saturday afternoon too for keen yogis.
Also join nutritionists Joanne Crovini and Cadi Fôn for advice on improving your health through diet and there will be top tips on healthy eating for the little ones.
