WEDDINGS Couple fell in love rocking at festival

-

The couple: Kelly Louise Simmons, 34, a regional fundraising manager from Llanishen, Cardiff, and Barry John Dibble, 30, from Llanbradach, near Caerphilly.

Barry works as a flexible pricing manager at Inprova Energy.

The couple now live together in Bedwas.

The venue: The couple married at Canada Lodge and Lake on Saturday, August 5.

How they met: Kelly said: “We met in June 2013 at Download, which is a rock and metal festival in the East Midlands.

“My friend Rach and I went and met up with some of her mutual friends from Caerphilly and ‘Baz’ was part of that group.

“We had an amazing time and watched some awesome bands and bonded over the three days.”

Kelly explained that festivals are the best way to meet people as you see others at their most natural – unwashed, without make-up and with dirty hair!

When they got home the couple met up the next day and watched DVDs and ate ice cream.

The proposal: Kelly said it was an otherwise pretty normal Saturday.

It took place back in 2015 when she was lounging about the house in her pyjamas.

She said: “He called me into the living room and there was a vase full of sunflowers, two glasses and a bottle of fizz on the table.

“Baz’s five-year-old son Jake was stood in front of me grinning and holding a sign that read ‘Will You marry Daddy?’”

The wedding:

The day paid tribute to the way the couple met at the rock festival.

To remind them of this special time, the tables were covered with skulls and flames and, instead of using table numbers, the couple included the names of their favourite bands on the tables.

“The background music was a mix of rock classics,” Kelly added.

“Jake did a reading at the ceremony that had everyone in tears.

“It was a fun, relaxed and chilled out atmosphere which is just what we wanted.”

The honeymoon: Kelly said: “Me and Baz had a wonderful time enjoying the food, wine and sights of the Amalfi Coast in Italy.

“We stayed in a small family-run hotel right on the cliff face, which gave us the real authentic Italian experience we’d hoped for.”
