Unicycling Sam’s cake challenge
WHEN Macmillan Wales asked NoFit State Circus if any of its performers would like to “have fun with cake” to promote the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning the internationally renowned circus did not disappoint.
Award-winning unicyclist, juggler and tight-wire performer Sam Goodburn took on the “cakey” challenge including unicycling on a tight-wire while juggling muffins, freestyling with teabags and finally flipping Welsh cakes from shoe to cap to plate to promote the event which is taking place on Friday, September 29.
The unique cake routines were filmed at NoFit State Circus’ HQ in Cardiff and will be shared on social media over the next couple of weeks.
Speaking about supporting the charity which provides practical, medical, emotional and financial support to people living with cancer, Luc Morris, NoFit State’s communications and marketing officer, said: “Using circus in such a fun and positive way to promote Macmillan’s well-loved World’s Biggest Coffee Morning campaign has been a great experience.
“There’s no getting away from it; most of us will be affected by cancer during our lifetimes. So, whether it’s cake, circus, or balancing both while 7ft up on a high-wire, we’re proud to be able to spread a little joy, bring people together and hopefully help raise awareness of Macmillan’s excellent work.”
Susan Morris, head of services in Wales for Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “Sam is amazing and he’s definitely added a novel twist to hosting a coffee morning but you don’t need Sam’s talents to hold a coffee morning for Macmillan.
“Every year in Wales 19,000 people receive the devastating news that they have cancer. By 2030, there will be 250,000 in Wales living with cancer.
“The money raised from hosting a coffee morning in homes, workplaces and schools around Wales helps to fund our specialist cancer nurses, physiotherapists, dieticians, welfare benefits advisers and cancer information and support specialists.”
