YOURS Placement success for Tristan
TRISTAN PARKER from Bargoed has been enjoying a placement with VINCI Facilities as a result of Caerphilly council’s speed interviewing event.
Tristan, 25, attended the event held at Tredomen Innovation Centre, organised by the teams delivering the Welsh Government Communities for Work and Lift employment support programmes. The Communities for Work programme is funded by the European Social Fund.
His CV impressed the representatives at VINCI who invited him for an interview for the position of trainee admin and trainee stores person. He was successful and has continued to impress the team with his hard work and dedication over the past three weeks. VINCI is one of the contractors appointed by the council to help deliver its £220m Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS) improvement programme.
Tristan said: “It was great to get the call about the placement, especially as the WHQS team were doing work in my home at the time. I have really enjoyed my placement and the team have supported me to develop my skills.”
VINCI has offered Tristan the opportunity to remain with the company in an office-based role with the view of working towards an NVQ in business administration.
Neil Greenwood, head of operations at VINCI Facilities, said: “We are keen to continue to work with Caerphilly County Borough Council’s WHQS Team and Communities First to provide training and employment opportunities within the VINCI family.”
Councillor Lisa Phipps, the council’s cabinet member for homes and places, said: “It is fantastic to see that we are having such positive results from the Communities for Work and Lift programmes. The programme is designed to assist those who want to develop interview skills and build confidence. Working with our WHQS suppliers we are able to offer real job opportunities for our residents.”
