Students from around the world welcomed at university
CARDIFF Metropolitan University recently welcomed 100 students from around the world to its third annual International Summer School.
Participants came from across the globe to take part, from countries including China, Egypt, India and Morocco.
Some of these were students from Cardiff Met’s transnational education partners (TNE), where there are approximately 7,000 students studying Cardiff Met degree courses overseas.
The Cardiff Schools of Art and Design; Sport and Health Sciences; and Management all took part in the programme. Students went on various site visits to high-calibre organisations including Land Rover and the Welsh National Opera, and attended social trips to London, Bath, St Fagans, Cardiff Castle and Cardiff Bay.
The Architecture Design and Technology International Summer School cohort visited construction sites and spent time in the university’s FabLab.
Students taking part in both the two and four-week Audiology International Summer School had the opportunity to integrate with students from Italy undertaking a language summer school.
The Project Management International Summer School set tasks for its students to lead a project exploring the similarities between project management and opera production through a newly designed study programme.
Professor Mohamed Loutfi, pro vice chancellor (International) at Cardiff Met, said: “This year’s International Summer School was a huge success and was supported by the collaborative work between the international office and the academics within the schools.
“It was great to see more students attend since 2016, especially those from our TNE partners, and we hope to build on this success for next year.”
