BABIES Happy, chatty baby Roman likes to babble

-

Baby’s name: Roman Criddle Date and place of birth: April 3 at 2.39pm at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. Weight: 9lb 7oz Parents: Mum Amy Simpson and dad Bradley Criddle a carpet fitter, both 20 and from Ely, Cardiff. Mum’s story: “Roman is my first baby and the pregnancy was all good. I didn’t have any morning sickness or heartburn at all.

“But towards the end they told me I did have low fluid. I didn’t feel any different really so I didn’t know anything about it. But on my last scan they told me, and they said I would need to have a C-section.

“I was meant to go in on April 4 for the C-section, but I ended up going into labour early and having him a day earlier. We only stayed in the hospital for a day.

“It was lovely taking him home for the first time, just to be together in your own surroundings with your family.

“We can’t really remember how we came up with name of Roman. We both liked the sound of it and then it just stuck.

“We did find out we were having a boy, but we weren’t too bothered if it was a boy or a girl we were just excited to be having a baby.

“I worked right up until I was eight and a half months pregnant. I work with children which was good practice for Roman! They were really accommodating with me when I was working.

“He was really good sleeping when he was younger, and then he started to have reflux which didn’t help.

“And then he got a bit better but he’s just had two teeth come through so he wakes up a few times a night for his dummy.

“He’s really starting to come on a lot now, he’s just learnt to sit up and he’s really chatty and he enjoys babbling a lot too.

“He’s just a happy baby and easy to look after.

“Life has changed loads since he was born, but it’s all been brilliant.”
