Barry ready for a derby atmosphere

-

BARRY Town host Carmarthen Town tonight in what promises to be a rousing South v West Wales encounter in the JD Premier League (7.45pm), writes MARK JONES.

The Welsh Premier League management decided on Thursday evening fixtures for this season with a number of the games, including this fixture, being shown on S4C Facebook live.

The Barry v Carmarthen fixture has always had a derby atmosphere, despite the two towns being 70 miles apart and that will certainly be the case this evening.

Barry, in their first season back in the top flight, are performing well enough, but consistency in gaining points has so far seen them lying in 10th place with four from five games.

After winning their last home game 2-0 against Newtown, the Linnets travelled to top-of-theleague Llandudno last Saturday and once again put in a decent performance but came back with no points after a Mike Williams goal gave Llandudno a 1-0 win.

Mark Aizlewood’s Carmarthen were rock bottom last Saturday, with no points from four games, but defeated Bala Town at their Maes Tegid ground 4-0.

Both managers Chesterfield and Aizlewood will be targeting victories to push their clubs nearer mid-table, which is probably their target for the season.

There is another Welsh Premier game tonight, with Cefn Druids at home to Bala.
