YOURS Cat cafe trip is purr-fect for therapists

-

THE Feline Good Cat Cafe in Cardiff treated three members of a Macmillan Cancer Support occupational therapy team to a “purr-fect” afternoon tea to support the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Clinical lead Karen Johnson and her team Lisa Stafford and Helen Johns, from Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff, dropped into the cat cafe for coffee, cake and plenty of cat cwtches.

The team, which helps to promote the wellbeing and independence of people with cancer, spent an hour playing with the cats as they enjoyed their cakes.

Speaking about her first visit to the café, Karen said: “We’ve loved visiting the cats! Hollie and her team made us very welcome. Our work as occupational therapists is really rewarding but it is still lovely to have a treat like this.”

Owner of the Feline Good Cat Cafe Hollie Bowler-Brown said “We were delighted to welcome the Macmillan professionals to the café for a spot of tea and a chance to meet our wonderful rescue kitties.

“The cat cafe is a great place to relax, de-stress and spend some time with our friendly cats.

“I sadly know first hand how important the work of Macmillan is to people affected by cancer as a member of my family who sadly died from the disease, had a Macmillan nurse. That’s why it was our pleasure to welcome the team.”

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning took place on September 29 when thousands of people all over Wales attended coffee mornings held in homes, workplaces and schools.

Last year in Wales over £1.2 million pounds was raised for Macmillan to help people in Wales affected by cancer.

With an estimated 130,000 people in Wales currently living with a cancer diagnosis, money from the coffee morning event pays for specialist cancer nurses, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, dietitians, cancer information specialists and benefits advisers.
