BABIES ‘Life couldn’t get any better’

-

Baby’s name: Maybank. Date and place of birth: August 17 at 4.53pm at the Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil. Weight: 7lb 12oz. Parents: Mum Meghan Maybank, 28, a teacher, and dad Carl Maybank, 32, a water engineer, from Nelson. Mum’s story: “When I found out I was pregnant it was quite immediate as I felt different and the morning sickness was horrendous.

“My morning sickness lasted all through my pregnancy which was not very fun!

“I experienced no cravings but did start to eat fish and chips – I hadn’t eaten fish for years!

“We were so excited and couldn’t wait to find out the sex of our baby. Phoebe Rose

“As soon as I was 20 weeks we had the gender scan and we had a party where we, and our close family and friends, found out the sex by popping a large balloon.

“It was loads of fun and my face was delighted when pink confetti was flying everywhere.

“Knowing we were having a little girl made things so much more exciting as shopping for baby girl clothes was one amazing experience. Her wardrobe is full until she is two.

“Both her dad and I are on cloud nine, the whole experience has been a real eye opener on life.

“As soon as the midwife placed Phoebe in my arms, I knew life could not get any better.

“Labour is definitely not fun but it is so worth it in the end as you get a beautiful gift – real little miracle. Being parents is truly the best gift ever.

“Phoebe Rose is the first grandchild on my side but the first granddaughter on my husband’s side.

“She is so loved by her grandparents too – my mother, her nan, has been over from South Africa for the birth too and goes home in November.

“When she was born and opened her eyes all we saw was her dad.

“She is definitely changing and you can see both of us in her.

“Both dad and I are quite similar as we have found out, as carrying a baby for nine months and being told she looks like dad is not what mums want to hear.

“Phoebe is a happy and content little lady. She gives big smiles and is so alert. She is a fantastic sleeper too.”
