FOODANDDRI­NK Gin festival is the perfect tonic T

HOSE who have yet to tire of a gin hangover will be pleased to hear that there’s another festival coming to Cardiff to celebrate the tipple. The Exchange Hotel in Cardiff Bay is hosting its very own gin festival which will feature more than 70 variations of gin. Guests will also get an opportunit­y to meet the distillers behind the brands, enjoy a range of live music and entertainm­ent, gin masterclas­ses and insightful talks from gin industry experts. Guests must purchase a ticket to attend for £16 each. They’ll then receive a gin balloon on arrival, a token which entitles you to one free gin and a brochure which will talk you through the festival.

The bar will operate on a token only system, so buy the tokens at the event. Tokens are £5 each which enables you to get a single measure of gin, mixer and garnish. Tonics and mixers include Double Dutch, Fentimans, Fevertree, Lamb and Watt.

There’ll be tapas dishes and nibbles available for £3 each or 4 for £10 to keep those hunger pangs at bay.

These include Welsh lamb kofta, spicy chicken skewers, prawn skewers, grilled halloumi, Cajun fries, hummus and pitta bread, salt and chilli calamari, stuffed bell peppers, red lentil and chickpea curry with naan fingers, cauliflowe­r fritters with raita and marinated mixed olives.

There’s also large plates such as spiced noodles with pork (£8), spicy hoisin beef (£9) or garlic and coriander king prawns (£10).
