YOUR PETS ‘Henson’s a very intelligent dog and very playful’

Pet’s name: Henson. Age: Six. Breed: Miniature poodle. Owner: Mum Jacqueline Welsby, 54, and son Daniel Welsby, 15, from Pontyclun. Owner’s story: “I bred Henson myself. I had bred poodles for a while, and when we had him in his litter I think he decided to stay with us!

“He decided he was staying and that was that.

“He was just a dog with a really lovely character. And my son was adamant he was staying too.

“Henson is still like a puppy now really, you wouldn’t think he was six years old. He’s a very, very intelligent dog and he’s very playful.

“He won’t eat any treats you offer him unless it’s like a game: you have to roll them to you or do something, otherwise he won’t eat them. Cheese is one of his favourite treats.

“Not only is Henson Dan’s alarm clock to wake him every morning by running and jumping in his bed for kisses, but Daniel has also got an Instagram page for him called ‘Schnoodle the Poodle’ because Henson likes nothing more than dressing up and posing for the camera.

“As soon as you say ‘pose’ he sits dead still till the photo is taken then runs off.

“He is very talented, with endless tricks, and will even sneeze if you ask him how his cold is.

“We had a party at the house the other day and all of the people were sat in the room just watching his tricks.

“His best friend next to Dan is our cat Fizz and they play for hours and even eat their food off the same plate. They are like brothers.

“We have got many videos of the two of them playing together. Fizz thinks it’s more of a dog than a cat.

“We own his mum Pippin, but Henson is the boss, until the cat comes in.

“There’s lots of wasteland up where we live so we just walk him around up here, and off the lead sometimes too as he’s very well behaved.

“We like to go to Ogmore beach with him too.”
