Chain to cut 2p off price of fuel at outlets in city

-

A SUPERMARKET has announced it is cutting the price of its fuel at some filling stations in Cardiff.

Morrisons has announced it will cut the cost of diesel and unleaded by two pence per litre at some of its city filling stations.

The price drop will be happening at filling stations on Olympian Drive, Ty Glas Road, and Newport Road.

A statement said: “Morrisons aims to offer the cheapest fuel in town and the cuts will help motorists fillup before the forthcoming half-term holiday.”

October half-term in Wales begins on Saturday, October 28, and runs to Sunday, November 5.

Steve Mosey, Morrisons services director, said: “These 2p-a-litre price cuts aim to help our customers during what can be an expensive time of the year.”

According to the latest information on PetrolPrices, in October average diesel prices have increased by 0.3 pence per litre.

“Although the other non-supermarkets will sort of keep pace, the clear message now is if you’re looking for cheap fuel go to supermarkets.

“It’s the rural communities that miss out.

“The small rural towns of no more than about 10,000 people rarely get a look in.

“In many places, the prices haven’t really come down that much.

“They kind of live in the land that cheap fuel price has forgot.”

Mr Bosdet said supermarkets Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrisons have a unique selling point over Aldi and Lidl due to the fact they sell fuel.

He added: “They can appeal to their customers on road fuel.”

On the 2p drop, he said: “It could be the difference between being able to stay within your budget budget.” or blowing your
