YOUR PETS Roxie loves being outside

-

Pet’s name: Age: Eight. Breed: German shepherd. Owners: Leanne Jones, a police constable, 32, and Leigh Parfitt, 29, a Cardiff police sergeant, from Trelewis. Owner’s story: “We had her from when she was about six weeks old.

“She was really good as a puppy and she trained really early. She did have a habit of nipping my heels when I walked around the house though but we took her to puppy training which helped.

“I had a German shepherd when I was six months old so that dog grew up with me really.

“That’s why we decided to get a German shepherd this time.

“She’s really good with kids too. She hasn’t had much to do with our baby Leo, as Roxie is more of an outdoor dog so she doesn’t come into the house too much.

“We have all been on walks together but Roxie isn’t too bothered with Leo in his pram really.

“But she’s always been good with other kids. Roxie.

“Roxie is a very playful dog. When she’s got a ball she’ll run over to you to give it you but then just run off instead.

“She normally just eats her normal dog food but she does love her dog treats and she will know when you are getting out the treats for her.

“I’m not too sure how we came up with the name Roxie but I decided to spell it with the ‘ie’ as I thought it sounded a bit more girly.

“Now even when we go and book her in at the vets I make sure they spell it right like that.

“She’s definitely a family dog. She does like to have a lot of attention.

“You can just see the excitement in her when you go and see her.

“We thought it would be difficult to bring Roxie to our new house and at one point we thought we might have to rehome her if she didn’t get on with it.

“But the thought of that absolutely broke my heart just to think of that happening.

“But obviously we made it work and she loves the new place.”
