Reindeer run aims to raise £12k for charity
ANTLERS? Check. Flashing noses? Check. Running shoes? Check.
More than 1,000 people are gearing up to take to the streets of one Cardiff suburb for the third Reindeer Run.
Over the past two years, the event in Whitchurch has raised almost £25,000 for local cancer charities.
This year, organisers are hoping to raise £12,000 for Cancer Research Wales.
Along with the one-mile fun run on Saturday, December 2, there will be a Santa and reindeer parade, live music, a giant outdoor cinema, street food festival and a festive finale.
Organiser Marcel Mace said: “Join us to run, jog, dance, walk or skip the course whilst raising sponsorship for Cancer Research Wales, providing vital funds for world-class research happening in Wales.
“Absolutely everybody is welcome and we would love to see the whole community helping us towards our fundraising goal of £12,000.”
Katie Killoran, fundraising manager at Cancer Research Wales, said: “Cancer Research Wales is delighted to have been chosen once again as charity partner for this year’s Reindeer Run. This is one of our key events in the calendar and always exceeds our expectations in raising funds for our world class research.
“It’s events like these that enable us to fund projects which are taking place here in Wales. Our scientists are among the very best in the world and every day they’re making progress into the early diagnosis, treatment and cure of cancer.”
Anybody who enters the fun run will receive a personalised Reindeer Run T-shirt. They will also receive a set of reindeer antlers and a flashing nose.
